I'm going to venture a guess and say that 95% of bloggers and creators need to shift the way they see their blogging business. Most are doing some variation of this: --> Create content. Get traffic. Earn from ads, affiliates, or sponsorships. Repeat. It's not wrong, but it's also not enough. All of that traffic you're working so hard to get can be gone in a second.. unless you have an email list. So let me walk you through every major platform and show you exactly how each one can feed your email list, because every single one of them has a path there. Most people just haven't built it yet. But you should. Note: You do NOT need to be on all of these platforms to succeed or grow your email list. I'd pick a few that compliment each other, and repurpose your content across them. How To Grow Your Email List with Google (Search Traffic) Yes, people are still getting SEO traffic in 2026. Hard to believe, but surprisingly many bloggers are crushing it with SEO. That doesn't mean you should depend on it fully, but it can help you grow your income and email list. Here's how I do it: When someone finds a blog post through Google, they are not casually scrolling. They have a specific problem and they want a specific answer. That makes them a really motivated subscriber if you put the right thing in front of them. So the freebie opt-in has to match the post. If someone lands on a Banff winter guide, a generic "join my newsletter" button is not going to do almost anything. But a free Banff winter packing checklist is a natural next step. So do that instead! I put an opt-in in the top 10% of every blog post. Early in the blog post is really key here because most people are not making it to the end of your post no matter how good it is. Welcome to 2026. How To Grow Your Email List wtih Pinterest Pinterest is alllll about planning. Think about it.. if you've ever been on Pinterest, you were probably looking for inspiration, right? Maybe you were painting your bathroom or figuring out how to setup your garden. And 9 times out of 10, inspiration = planning for the future. That is exactly why Pinterest users convert to email subscribers so well. They are already in the mode of "I want to do this someday," which means they are very likely to grab something that helps them make it happen. For travel bloggers, that means packing checklists, destination itineraries, planning guides, anything they can save and come back to later. The other thing most bloggers don't realize is that you don't have to send Pinterest traffic to your blog post first. You can create a pin that links directly to a freebie landing page. Someone sees your pin, clicks, and lands straight on your opt-in. You're taking out the middleman, so there's a smoother transition to being on your list. Just make sure that the landing page is set up for conversions. The copy should focus on the outcome they're getting, not just what the freebie is. And remember that you can (and should) always tweak it later once you see how it's performing. How To Grow Your Email List with Facebook In my opinion, Facebook pages are the easiest way to grow your email list right now. I talked about this a few newsletters ago, but in order to grow your list, the key is to get comments on your Facebook posts. When people comment on your posts, you can use a tool called ManyChat to automatically send them a DM with an invitation to join your list or grab a freebie. You'll set it up once and it runs on its own. The posts that drive the most comments are ones where it feels obvious that they should comment without being a question. Here are some examples of posts that do well:
I'm honestly blown away by this opportunity. We are getting an 11% conversion rate on our ManyChat automation, and adding 120 new subscribers on average to our email list every day. How To Grow Your Email List with Social Media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Reels) The same ManyChat approach applies here. You create a post or reel that's genuinely useful. Then stop short of the full payoff. Your audience is already interested and happy about the value you provided, so when you offer them more, they go for it. They comment a specific word, ManyChat sends them a DM automatically, and just like that they're on your list. In practice, this might be something like: comment "Vietnam" for the full itinerary. Or comment "resorts" and I'll DM you the links to these amazing low-cost resorts. I realize this sounds too good to be true, but spend some time on Instagram or TikTok and you'll see that soo many of these posts crush it. It's honestly astounding. The Big Picture Here Every platform you're on has a path to your email list, which leads to a more stable blogging and content creation business. And ultimately, more potential income. Travel Blogging Success Story ✨ How One Blogger Built Two Mediavine Sites While Living Abroad I recently got to sit down with Allison, a Scale Your Blog student who has built two Mediavine-level travel blogs. Here are a few highlights from her interview: ⚫ She started her email list from day one on her...
Blog & Newsletter Tip of the Week 💡 A Behind the Scenes Look At One of Our Side Projects I wanted to give you a little peek behind the curtain this week because I think there's a really important lesson in here that most creators are ignoring. I'm not sure how much I've really talked about this, but about a year ago, Mike started a Facebook page about a niche we are growing a newsletter in. Using the strategies he learned in The Facebook Traffic Goldmine*, he was invited to join the Facebook...
Blog & Newsletter Tip of the Week 💡 The Difference Between Bloggers Who Last and Those Who Don't Most bloggers (and honestly most creators in general) are building their income on sand. And it's not because they lack discipline or effort. Most of us would rather put in 80 hours for ourselves than 40 hours for someone else. The issue is that most creators don't know the difference between stable income and risky income. And without that distinction, you are always one algorithm update away...
