Blogging Tip of the Week:

4 Traffic Sources I’d Double Down On This Year

Let’s talk about traffic.

Everyone wants more of it.

But here’s what most bloggers get wrong:

They obsess over getting more pageviews…

…but they’re not nearly as focused on what actually makes money once people land on their site.

Big mistake.

Still, I get it. Traffic opens doors. It gets you on ad networks. It grows your email list. It feeds your affiliate income.

It just has to be the right kind of traffic from the right sources.

So what’s actually working right now mid-2025?

Here are a few sources I’d recommend doubling down on right now:

1) Facebook Pages

I know it’s not 2014.

But Facebook Pages are driving some serious traffic to blogs, especially if you know how to post the right content, when to post it, and how to automate it.

Quick tips if you’re using Facebook Pages:

  • Niche down.

    Instead of a generic “travel blog” page, get specific. If you have a broad travel blog, choose one destination that you cover the most and create a page for it.

    Facebook rewards relevance, and so do your readers.
  • Put some ad spend behind it.

    This part matters. Spending a little money to grow your Facebook Page Likes (especially with the right targeting) helps build authority and traction fast.

2) Flipboard

Flipboard is one of the most underrated traffic sources out there.

Stephanie Rytting (another friend + member of Scale Your Travel Blog) has used Flipboard to grow her traffic fast for multiple websites.

Quick tips if you’re using Flipboard:

  • Sensational, seasonal, and newsy content works best.

    Flipboard users scroll quickly; your titles need to stop the scroll. Think curiosity-driven, emotionally compelling, or super timely.

    For content ideas and inspiration, look at what’s already doing well on Flipboard, Google Discover, or even major news sites. Model that style and structure for your own posts.
  • Volume matters.

    The more you post, the more chances Flipboard has to distribute your content. It’s a low-effort platform; take advantage of that and post consistently.

    You can even “flip” other people’s articles onto your boards, which makes it super easy to stay active without constantly creating new content.

3) Pinterest SEO

Pinterest isn’t dead. Does it have it's ups and downs? Algorithm changes? Of course.

It’s a search engine after all.

But it’s still one of the best traffic sources for bloggers because Pinterest users are planners, and planners click.

The traffic it sends is high-intent and high-value.

If you’re ignoring Pinterest in 2025, you’re leaving both traffic and money on the table.

4) Email Marketing

This one isn’t just traffic, it’s control.

You own your email list. You can send traffic to your website whenever you want, no algorithm needed.

Quick tips if you’re using email marketing:

  • Send good emails.

    I know this one should be obvious but...

    ..if you're sending boring "check-in" emails with your audience that include a bunch of links back to your website, no one is going to become a fan, and you'll see your open rate quickly decrease.

    SEND GOOD EMAILS. What do people want to read about? What's interesting? Make it worth their time.
  • Promote affiliate products + your own offers.

    Email isn’t just for traffic, it’s one of the easiest places to earn.
    Include affiliate links or your own product offers within valuable, engaging content. Don’t just sell, serve and sell at the same time. That’s the difference.

What Should You Focus On?

Not 15 platforms. And definitely not Instagram (sorry IG.. you’ve never been great at sending traffic to blogs, and you’re still not).

Pick two solid platforms (and yes, email should be one of them) and actually commit.

Most traffic sources take time. If you’re expecting overnight success, blogging probably isn’t for you.

But if you’re willing to show up, test, learn, and build, that’s where the growth (and the money) happens.
